You have spent the last three months looking for your dream job. Finally, after sending through what feels like thousands of your CV, you land an interview. You rush to your cupboard, you panic, you then rush to the internet and begin searching for tips, you watch a YouTube video, you call a friend, you prepare yourself.
It is the day of your interview, you enter the office, and no one offers you a glass of water, your mouth is so dry- you feel as though you are swallowing sand. You did not take this into consideration, you begin to sweat. You realize you have not prepared enough. Panic sets in.
They welcome you into the interview room, there are three people, you thought there would be one. You can feel your shirt sticking to you, you wonder if your perspiration in visible. They smile, you pry open your dry mouth and try not to look like a deer in the headlights.
They begin… “Hello potential candidate, tell us; what do you know about our company and what qualifies you to get the position over the other candidates?”
Words escape your mouth, you can’t stop them, “well, I didn’t really find much on the internet, so like, I was going to ask you that myself. I am like totally driven, and loyal, hardworking and well, I have a degree.”
It’s over, you leave, you said the right things and some very wrong things- just like every other candidate. You were the same as every other candidate. The ordeal is over, but the lesson has just begun.
